The Kingsway
The Kingsway is west Toronto's premier neighbourhood and it is not hard to see why. The Kingsway was bought to develop as a subdivision by John Home Smith in 1908. His vision was to create The Kingsway as ‘a little bit of England far from England' with suburban houses in English cottage garden settings.
The large detached stately homes that grace the wide streets of The Kingsway are situated in a picture-perfect setting in the forest of the Humber River Valley. The size of these homes and proximity to local amenities make this neighbourhood ideal for families.
The main shopping area along Bloor Street has a village ambience with its pretty cast iron lampposts and park benches. There is an excellent selection of specialty shops, chain stores, restaurants, cafes and services. For a wider selection of shops there is Kingsway Mills outdoor shopping plaza at 4242 Dundas Street W. One of The Kingsway's gems is the old theatre that is still in operation after an extensive refurbishment.
